“4000-pound bomb was first used on the night of February 4, 1944, a Pair of "mosquito B. IX of the 692 squadron (re-equipment on Mosquito), accompanied by six B. IV of 105 squadron unleashed its load on Dusseldorf. The next night three more bombs were dropped on Kiel. Strictly speaking, the use of such a powerful ordnance to cities were mostly moral-psychological orientation. The leaders of Bomber command, not without reason, believed that, in terms of combat effectiveness much more beneficial to lose four 227-kg bombs.”
